This Privacy Policy describes how the WHFR.FM audio streaming application ("the App"), developed for WHFR 89.3 FM and Henry Ford College (Dearborn, MI), handles information in connection with your use of the App.
Introduction
WHFR 89.3 FM is the public radio station of Henry Ford College, located in Dearborn, Michigan. The WHFR.FM application is a free audio streaming client available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Its sole purpose is to deliver the live broadcast of WHFR 89.3 FM to listeners on their mobile devices.
Information We Collect
The App does not require an account, login, or registration. It does not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal identifiers from users.
Connecting to the live audio stream necessarily transmits standard HTTP request metadata — including IP address, device type, and operating system version — to the third-party streaming server that hosts the broadcast. This metadata is a normal characteristic of internet-based streaming and is not collected, stored, or processed by the App itself.
The App may store user-chosen settings (such as the last-known volume level) locally on the device. These settings are stored only on the user's device and are not transmitted off-device.
How We Use Information
Any device or network metadata observed by the third-party streaming server is used solely to deliver the audio stream and to record anonymous, aggregate listenership counts. These counts help WHFR 89.3 FM understand how many listeners are connecting at a given time.
No information is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build user profiles. The App contains no advertising and no analytics SDKs.
Third-Party Services
The live audio stream is delivered by a third-party streaming server. That server may collect and retain anonymous request metadata — such as IP address and connection timestamps — according to its own privacy policy, over which WHFR 89.3 FM and Henry Ford College have no control.
The App is distributed and updated through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Each of these platforms has its own privacy policy and data practices that apply to their services. Users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of Apple and Google as applicable.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at the email address below so that the information can be reviewed and removed. As documented in the "Information We Collect" section above, the App does not collect personal information from any user, including children.
Changes to This Policy
Henry Ford College and WHFR 89.3 FM may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes to this policy will be communicated through the App or on Henry Ford College's website.
